After care

Please note that any advise provided here only applies to the tattoos done by me. All artists have different advice tailored to the style that they do so if you have any questions please consult your artist.

Once you leave the studio, it is entirely up to you to ensure you are looking after your tattoo correctly. Following the steps bellow will mean your tattoo has the best chance of healing as well at it can.

  • Please ensure when handling your tattoo your hands are clean and sterile

  • Leave your clingfilm on for 2 - 3 hours after the appointment. Please do NOT wrap your tattoo again after this step.

  • Once you remove the clingfilm it is normal to find excess cream/plasma, gently wash this off with warm soapy water. Once washed allow the tattoo to air dry and leave it for the rest of the day.

  • Tattoos can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks to heal fully.

  • From the second day onward please wash your tattoo gently, air dry it and once it’s dry you can start applying your unscented moisturiser. I suggest using Palmer’s cocoa butter (in the tub). Apply a very small amount to lightly moisturise the area. You can cream your tattoo 2-3 times a day for the first 14 days. Then you can drop it down to 1-2 times a day.

  • After the initial two weeks I advise using an SPF on your tattoos to protect them from the sun, as it can affect your tattoo even when its fully healed.

  • You will potentially experience the skin flaking, peeling and scabbing as the tattoo heals, this is completely normal. Scabs shouldn’t be picked as this will effect how well the tattoo heals.

  • If the tattoo is itchy feel free to pat the tattoo gently but avoid scratching as this can effect how well the tattoo will heal.

For at least 14 days, please avoid:

  • baths (you can shower like normal), swimming, hot tubs, saunas, heavy sweating(for 7 days at least), sun beds/fake tanning.

If you are unsure about anything during your healing process please get in touch and I’d be happy to help!

Touch ups

  • All touch ups are free for 3 months after the appointment, if they are needed.

  • Please allow 1 month for the tattoo to have completely healed before enquiring about a touch up.

  • If you think you require a touch up please send over a clear direct photo of your tattoo.

  • A touch up is not an added extra and is only provided to correct any extreme fading / loss of line-work and/or shading. Please bare in mind when booking in with me that my work is intentionally softer so some smaller details will be intentionally very faint. I am always happy to advise whether a tattoo has healed as I would expect it to.

  • Please note if you’re booked in for a free touch up and don’t attend without prior notice, any future touch up appointments will be £50.

  • If I feel the tattoo has healed as I’d expect and you still want a touch up, this will be charged as a minimum set up fee of £50. Anything more than a touch up would be charged for the time used.

  • Please email your enquiry
